* Settings places I know best.

I lived in London after World War II and often traveled on the London Underground, imagining all the people who sheltered there during air raids. The old rusty chocolate machines on the platforms remained empty for years and I loved chocolate.  When the Underground machines finally held chocolate, my world became enchanted.  In A Bomber’s Night Jill had to experience a night on a London Underground platform and taste some of the last chocolate before it ran out.

* Research  is fun!

During my research, more and more information on German Enigma code machines became available. I visited Bletchley Park where the codes were deciphered.  The old buildings held great mystery and became part of A Bomber's Night.

 * Characters - often are people I know. Jill and Enid are real sisters, pictured here at the beach after the war ended.
